Who we are?
Sensilize was founded by Robi Stark and Yoav Zur, both having over 40 year of combined experience in remote sensing. Both hold PhD degrees in environmental remote sensing, with a solid track record and specialized know-how. After receiving their PhDs from Ben Gorion University of the Negev, Israel, Dr. Stark and Dr. Zur joined Bar-Kal Systems Engineering, where they designed, built and operated hyper-spectral systems and devised algorithms for both the civilian and defense markets. They played an integral role in the acquisition of Bar-Kal by Elbit Systems, a world leading defense contractor. After completing their required three year post-acquisition work at Elbit, they decided to apply their knowledge in the environmental field. In 2012, they founded Sensilize. The company is part of a comprehensive solution developed by the Phenomics consortium to create machine learning and artificial intelligence programs to determine the phenotype and stress of plants.
We focus on bridging the gap that exists between the basic needs of land management professionals and advanced technology.
There are big problems in agriculture that we want to solve:
- 30% of fertile soil has been lost during the past 40 years;
- global population will increase by 2030 adding another 1.2 bln people to feed;
- 20-40% of global crop yields are lost each year during production due to insects and diseases.
